About the Doing Good Leeds Partnership

Uniting infrastructure support for the good of the Leeds Third Sector. Delivered by Voluntary Action Leeds, Forum Central and Leeds Older People’s Forum.
Together we give support and representation to the Leeds Third Sector.

Doing Good Leeds is the gateway for support, collaboration, representation and community action:
  • connecting Leeds VCSE Sector with statutory partners,
  • building trusted relationships and strengthening leadership,
  • amplifying the voice and value of the sector,
  • driven by equity, inclusion, and social justice,
  • championing volunteering and community power.
The Doing Good Leeds Partnership is commissioned jointly by Leeds City Council and our local NHS Integrated Care Board as the VCSE infrastructure contract for the city – to deliver a service that is accessible, inclusive, joined up and impactful.

Our Vision

We are guided by an ambitious vision:
A Leeds where every community is heard, every Third Sector organisation can flourish, and collective action drives a fairer, healthier, and more inclusive city for all.

Our Mission

Our offer is articulated through a clear and joined-up mission:
The Doing Good Leeds Partnership unites the strengths, values, and voices of Leeds’ Third Sector to create a single, accessible gateway for support, collaboration, and community action; and a neutral connector between Third Sector organisations, statutory partners, and communities to foster trust and collaboration.

Grounded in the principles of equity, inclusion, and social justice, we champion community power, amplify volunteering, and strengthen leadership across the sector so that every organisation – large or small – can shape a fairer, healthier, and more connected city.

Our 5 areas of focus

Access to the service
A clear gateway into the city’s Third Sector support; improved website, shared contact points – phone, email, and physical hubs. Access to the right information and support at the right time, and in an inclusive way.
Leadership and Representation
Ensuring the Third Sector has influence and a strong, coordinated voice within decision-making spaces. Giving communities a greater opportunity to be heard. Acting as a ‘neutral connector’ between the Third Sector and statutory system partners.
Partnership and Collaboration
Bringing people together to drive collective action. Promoting collaboration to create a more efficient and resilient city where services are co-produced, commissioning is based on trust, and the sector can mobilise rapidly and effectively to support communities in challenging times.
Capacity Building
Helping every organisation, particularly small and emerging ones, have the tools and support to thrive and build long-term resilience. We offer training, one-to-one advice and practical guidance on funding, governance, HR and finance.
Volunteering
Connecting people with meaningful opportunities. Our Volunteer Centre works to remove barriers to participation, and helps organisations recruit and retain volunteers with an inclusive offer. Unlocking the enormous benefits of volunteering for the city as a whole, as well as for those who give their time and the communities they support.

The Partners

Forum Central is the collective voice for the health and care third sector in Leeds. We advocate for a person-centred approach to health and social care. We bring people together through our specialism Networks and enable the third sector to have representation at city-wide strategic health and care meetings. We connect and build relationships between the VCSE sector and the NHS in Leeds.

Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) supports the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector across Leeds. We lead on volunteering for the city, connecting people with opportunities and developing volunteering best practices. We help organisations grow and support their sustainability through advice, training and collaboration, enabling them to build stronger, more connected communities.

Leeds Older People’s Forum aims to make Leeds the best city to grow old in. We support and coordinate a network of third sector organisations working with and for older people. We want to ensure older people have the opportunities, choices and support they need to live the life they want and we advocate for this at a city-wide level.
